DOGS NEED FRIENDS TOO!

At Shire Dogs Socialising Club, we understand it’s not always easy to find safe, reliable playtime for your dog with other friendly, playful dogs. That’s why we provide sessions in large, enclosed fields booked just for us—no unfamiliar dogs or surprises. Welcoming dogs of all ages, our sessions let your dog safely socialise, play, and burn off energy in a fun, natural way that’s often more stimulating than a walk alone. With two people always on the field supervising, we ensure a positive experience and provide daily feedback to keep you updated on your dog’s progress and social skills.

How does our club work?

About Us

Shire Dogs Socialising Club is run by myself, Vanessa, and my husband Sam. We’re a family-run business built on a genuine love for dogs and the joy they bring to everyday life.

Both Sam and I are canine first aid trained, DBS checked, and fully insured, so you can feel confident your dog is always in safe hands. We established Shire Dogs in July 2025, turning our passion for dogs into something we’re incredibly proud of.

We’re also parents to three children and two very loved dogs, a Border Collie (Rudy) and a Whippet (Frodo), who keep us on our toes and remind us daily why we do what we do. Caring for dogs isn’t just our job; it’s a huge part of our family life, and we treat every dog in our care as if they were our own.

Our Sessions

We run two sessions every weekday:

  • 10:30am

  • 1:30pm

While session times may occasionally vary, this is rare. Pick-up begins approximately 45 minutes before field time.

Each session includes 60 minutes on a large, fully enclosed field, giving dogs plenty of time to play, run, explore, and sniff. We’ve found that an hour is the perfect amount of time for dogs to enjoy the benefits of each other’s company and burn off energy—leaving them content and ready for a well-deserved nap afterwards.

Group Size & Dog Requirements

We welcome dogs of all ages, provided they have no history of aggression.

To ensure safety, enjoyment, and individual attention, sessions are limited to a maximum of 7–8 dogs. We also carefully match dogs based on temperament and play style to create positive, balanced groups.

Transport & Van Safety

Dogs will never share a crate in our van unless they are from the same household and are happy to travel together.

Our van is fitted with:

  • 4 large compartments

  • 3 small compartments

There is also one additional space available in the front of the van, next to Ness, where a seatbelt is always provided. Please note that not all dogs are suitable for the front seat option.

Photographs of the inside of our van are available to view in the Gallery.

Sunday Trek Walks

Dogs who are part of Shire Dogs Socialising Club also have the opportunity to join our Sunday Trek Walks, giving them extra time to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

We offer:

  • 1-hour treks

  • 2-hour treks

  • 3-hour treks

These are ideal for dogs who love adventure and need a little extra exercise.

Updates & Feedback

We are very active on Facebook, where we share daily photographs and updates. Members also have access to a private Facebook group, where weekly schedules are posted.

In addition, we provide feedback sheets at drop-off, so you know exactly how your dog has spent their time with us.

Areas we cover

Clitheroe, Chatburn, Sabden, Whalley, Gisburn & Barnoldswick

What people have to say about us
"My dog, Dottie, attends here usually 3/4 times a week and she absolutely loves it! After every session, I find myself looking through the photos and I see my baby jumping, running and playing with all the other dogs and toys that they provide. I highly recommend Shire Dogs with Sam and Vanessa, they are extremely easy to book with, they leave daily report cards and they always put the dogs first"
"Absolutely love how excited my dog Bailey gets when he sees Sam coming to get him. Love the feedback when he is brought back to say who he has played with. It’s brilliant for the dogs to socialise with other dogs in a safe and secure field. Love the photos as well all the dogs look like they have the best time"
